The Russian Squash Championship will take place in Krasnoyarsk

February 3 18:00

From February 6 to 8, Krasnoyarsk will host the Russian Squash Championship, for the first time in individual competition. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Sports.

The tournament will take place in the year of the 30th anniversary of squash in Russia and will be the largest in terms of the number of participants – representatives from 22 regions will compete for victory. The location of the championship was not chosen by chance. It was in Krasnoyarsk that the history of this sport in the Russian Federation began. In 1996, a sports complex with three courts was opened on Polzunov Street, meeting international standards. Now it is called “Tennis Hall”.

“Holding the Russian Championship in Krasnoyarsk is a tribute to the origins of our sport in the country. Here, in the capital of Yenisei Siberia, the foundation of Russian squash was laid three decades ago. Today we are witnessing the confident development of the discipline throughout Russia. Squash is an Olympic sport, and the upcoming championship will be an important stage in preparing our athletes to return to the world stage under our flag,” said Artem Buslaev, Chairman of the Russian Squash Federation.

Four athletes from the Krasnoyarsk Territory plan to compete at the Russian Championship. This is Artem Nikolaev, who in 2025 topped the national ranking of the Russian Squash Federation and became the country's first racket, and recently received the title of Master of Sports. Gleb Chudinov is the winner of the 2024 Krasnoyarsk Territory Championship under 19 years old, silver medalist of the 2025 regional championship. Kira Pobitkova is the winner of the Krasnoyarsk City Cup 2024, the Siberian Federal District Championship 2025 and the Krasnoyarsk Territory Championship 2025. Lyudmila Prikatova is the winner of the Krasnoyarsk City Championship 2025.

The tournament in Krasnoyarsk will begin with the opening ceremony at the Tennis Hall sports complex. The competition will take place at the squash club at: st. Martynova, 12 and will last three days – from Friday to Sunday. Admission for spectators is free.

Let us add that the Russian Squash Championship is intended not only to popularize this sport, but also to contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives of the state program “Sport of Russia”.
