Students of the Technical College of Mining named after V.P. Astafiev undergo practical training at SUEK-Krasnoyarsk enterprises – Borodinsky, Nazarovsky and Berezovsky open-pit mines.
This is not a one-time event, but part of the company’s large-scale program to form a personnel reserve, where every current trainee is a potential future employee.
Coal mine internships give students direct access to mining equipment, real-life coal mining processes, the opportunity to work with a team of qualified professionals, and participate in day-to-day operations while learning safety and technology. This is an opportunity to master and practice your first professional skills – under the supervision of experienced mentors, with the practical application of knowledge acquired in the classroom.
“This is the second time my practice has taken place at the largest open-pit mine in the country, Borodino,” says future mine surveyor Vyacheslav Vasilenko. — The current one will last four months, then the defense of the diploma, service in the army. And then I plan to return here as an employee.”
“The guys come with excitement, they are interested in all the processes, and that’s right,” says the student mentor at the V.P. Mining College. Astafieva at the Berezovsky open-pit mine, deputy head of the Mining Shop Evgeny Altabasov. — It’s great when they don’t just watch, but actively ask, try to do something with their own hands. After such immersion, they come to the enterprise as trained specialists who are not afraid of work.”
Since the beginning of the year, 9 future specialists have undergone practical training at the SUEK-Krasnoyarsk coal mines, and currently 16 more are learning the basics of their professions. In 2025, the Company's enterprises became a career guidance platform for 120 students from the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals of the Siberian Federal University, the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Railway Transport, the Nazarovsky Energy Construction College and the V.P. Astafiev Mining College.
Industrial practice is one of the areas of the company’s comprehensive program for the formation of a personnel reserve. It covers all levels: from kindergarteners to college and university graduates. With the support of the Melnichenko Foundation, in the cities of responsibility of coal miners – Borodino, Nazarovo and Sharypovo, career guidance projects Profkomanda.FM and Profklassy.FM are being implemented, within the framework of which children are immersed in the production processes of the largest coal mining enterprises in the region, and even master their first professions according to programs specially developed by local secondary schools.
The company constantly participates in Open Days in specialized higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, helps expand the material and technical base of technical schools, coal miners act as experts in professional competitions, such as the “Professionals” Championship.
In addition, since last year, the coal company joined the regional project “Professionalism for All,” which is being implemented on behalf of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The program allows for constant cooperation between students of specialized educational institutions and employers, and provides future specialists with job guarantees. Another area is training under targeted contracts. Today, 87 students from SUEK-Krasnoyarsk enterprises are studying in colleges and universities.
All these activities allow us to train and attract competent employees. For example, in 2025, the Company added 39 young specialists.
