If you want geraniums to delight you with lush blooms throughout the warm season, try this proven and natural method. It works even in low light conditions and does not require commercial fertilizers.
You will need iodine and water. Add 1 teaspoon of iodine to 3 liters of standing water at room temperature. Carefully pour the solution onto the soil along the edge of the pot, do not pour right under the trunk, so as not to burn the roots. Do this once every 2-3 weeks from May to August.
Iodine stimulates the formation of buds, strengthens the plant’s immunity and helps it more efficiently absorb nutrients from the soil. Within 7–10 days after the first feeding, you will notice how new shoots appear and the first buds are formed. Flowering becomes more abundant, and the inflorescences are brighter and denser.
Water in the morning or evening. Geraniums in a pot love bright, diffused light, moderate watering and light drying of the soil between waterings. Avoid stagnant water, as this is the main reason for the death of geraniums.
With such care, your geranium on the windowsill will bloom in waves throughout the warm season, turning an ordinary apartment into a corner of the summer garden.
