In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, from September 1, 2026, another metallurgical cluster will start operating as part of the federal project “Professionalism” of the national project “Youth and Children”.

It will be opened on the basis of the Norilsk College of Industrial Technologies and Services, as well as the Taimyr College and the Polar State University named after N.M. Fedorovsky. They will begin to train specialists in 13 areas in demand at the cluster’s partner enterprise, Norilsk Nickel. Programs include welding and metallurgical production, mechanical engineering technology, additive technologies, software development and management, and mineral processing.

“Investments in equipping the cluster of the region, the federation and Norilsk Nickel will amount to more than 200 million rubles. With these funds it is planned to purchase equipment and furniture, carry out repairs in workshops, and brand educational laboratories. The main mission of the cluster is to train highly qualified specialists for metallurgical enterprises located in the Arctic zone of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the most in-demand professions. For first-year students, it is planned to build an end-to-end career track, including meetings with production representatives, excursions, and phased paid internships under a fixed-term employment contract, starting from the second year,” the press service of the regional government notes.

In the first year, 350 students will begin their studies; by 2028, their number will increase to 1,050 people. At least 85% plan to find employment by 2027.

“Last year, on behalf of the regional governor Mikhail Kotyukov, in addition to the federal project, we launched the regional “Professionalism for All”. The competition for some specialties for these projects reached 11-14 people per place. The main reasons for such popularity of educational programs are guaranteed employment and close connections with future employers. This year, five more clusters will open in the region as part of a regional project,” noted the region’s Minister of Education Tatyana Gridasova.

Let us remind you that under the “Professionality” project, six clusters have been created in the region – agricultural, two fuel and energy, metallurgical, transport and logistics and railway.
