Trains are delayed for up to five hours on Tuesday morning due to the weather, and the most affected is the Bucharest – Ploiești line, where during the night trees fell over the contact network, and train traffic was interrupted at 5.00 am.

Several trains connecting Moldova and Transylvania with the capital have delays of more than 250 minutes, and there are also trains 200 minutes late when departing from the North Railway Station.

Long-distance trains stop at various stations. For example, train IR 1642 Satu Mare – Bucharest stops at Ploiești Vest from 6.00 am.

The worst is on Bucharest – Ploiești where, starting at 2:11 a.m., there was a lack of voltage in the contact line on wire I, as a result of a tree falling over the contact network, says CFR SA. A pantograph train from Ploiești was dispatched to remedy the disturbance.

Starting at 3:15 a.m., the lack of voltage also extended to the II Crivina – Brazi line, after a tree fell over both traffic lines. Following the checks carried out on the II Brazi – Crivina wire, the intervention teams found that the fallen tree also affected the I wire, and broken brackets were identified on both wires. For remediation, the guided pantograph dresina from Chitila Station also acts.

From 4:00 a.m., to ensure safe intervention conditions, it was ordered to remove the voltage on line I Brazi – Ploiești West, on line 5 from Brazi station and on line I Ploiești West – Ploiești Sud, says CFR SA.

Where CFR Infrastructura intervened

Between February 17, 2026, 7:00 p.m. – February 18, 2026, 7:00 a.m., at the national level, there were interventions on the railway infrastructure, as follows:

  • 4 interventions to remedy disturbances at the contact line;
  • 8 interventions to remove obstacles from the railway gauge.

The interventions were carried out in the area of the Bucharest, Craiova and Timișoara Regional Railway Branches. Within the reach of the Bucharest Regional Railway Branch, interventions continue to ensure safe circulation.

They act with operative teams, snow removal machines and intervention dredges, to maintain the functioning of signaling, centralization and electrification installations.
