In Vrancea county, firefighters were repeatedly asked to intervene with first aid vehicles and tracked vehicles, the only ones capable of advancing through the trojans formed in the last hours.

The first mission took place in the Mândrești neighborhood of Focșani, where a 47-year-old woman with medical problems could not be picked up by the ambulance because of the blocked road. The ISU crews arrived at her home with a crawler, transported her safely and handed her over to the medical staff of SAJ Vrancea.

A similar intervention took place in Măicănești commune, Stupina village, where a 50-year-old woman needed urgent medical care. Two crews – one SMURD and one crawler – managed to reach the patient despite the difficult conditions.

“A SMURD crew from the Focșani Detachment acted on the spot, as well as a crew with a first-aid and command vehicle and a crawler from ISU Galaţi, deployed by order of the IGSU to support colleagues from Vrânci. The intervention was a difficult one, but our colleagues made every effort to reach the patient as soon as possible, in order to provide medical assistance and subsequent transport to the hospital. The professionalism, efficient coordination and determination of the firefighters prove, once again, that every mission is treated with the utmost responsibility. They are constantly on duty and put the lives of their fellow men first!“, transmitted ISU Vrancea

Also on Wednesday, the firefighters from Focșani were mobilized in the town of Dumitrești for the preventive evacuation of a person dependent on oxygen. The road had been blocked for hours by the blizzard, and the authorities decided to act before the situation became critical.

There were also problems in Galati county, where a special vehicle of the County Ambulance Service, on a mission without a patient, got stuck in the snow on DJ 254C, between Adam localities and the intersection with DN 24D. ISU Galati announced that a machine from the County Roads was sent to unblock the ambulance, according to Agerpres.

The road situation remains difficult in the entire county. According to the operative report from 21:00, traffic is restricted on no less than 14 segments of county roads, including DJ 242D, DJ 253, DJ 255, DJ 252H, DJ 243A and DJ 252, areas where the blizzard reduced visibility and formed snowdrifts.

Authorities remain on alert

ISU crews from both counties announced that they remain mobilized, given that severe weather phenomena continue to affect access to several localities. Interventions with crawlers, snow removal machines and first aid vehicles are ongoing, and the authorities recommend the population to avoid non-essential travel.

Nationally, more than 18,000 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are, on Wednesday evening, in the field, with the people, where the weather has brought challenges and concern.

“Through every intervention, they provide support, safety and hope to those in need. We thank all colleagues who were and are on duty, day and night, to protect the community”DSU reported.
