The Border Police announces that, starting from February 16, traffic restrictions will be imposed through the Sighetu Marmații Border Crossing Point, due to the resumption of work on the bridge over the Tisza.
The interventions target the roadway and sidewalks, to ensure traffic safety during the works.
“The Border Police informs that, as a result of the notification sent by the National Road Infrastructure Administration Company, work is being resumed on the carriageway and sidewalks of the historic bridge over the Tisa, which ensures the road connection between Romania and Ukraine, thus maintaining the traffic restrictions on this bridge. Thus, in the period 16.02.2026-03.04.2026, from Monday to Friday, in the time interval 09.00–16.00, road traffic through the Sighetu Marmaţiei Border Crossing Point will be restricted for the safe execution of the works”, it is stated in the press release sent on Monday, February 16, by the Border Police.
According to the authorities, pedestrian traffic is not affected, and drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays.
The works are part of a larger program to rehabilitate the bridge, considered an important road link between Romania and Ukraine.
