Minister Wojciech Balczun celebrates Valentine's Day
Wojciech Balczun, Minister of State Assets, opened the door to his private life on social media. The head of all heads of state-owned companies first admitted that his “Valentine's weekend this time is extremely unusual”.
“We start with our first visit to the hairdresser together. Tomorrow we will continue our unusual experiences…” wrote Wojciech Balczun.
Then he showed off the results of his visit to the hairdresser.
This is quite a change, because just a day earlier the minister wrote on his social media about the difficult financial situation of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa. The very fact of signing an agreement between the company and its employees may give rise to a certain amount of optimism.

Wojciech Balczun is an experienced manager, strategist and leader with over 20 years of experience in managing large organizations – both in the public and private sectors. He specializes in restructuring and transformation of enterprises, strategic management, negotiations with investors and building international economic cooperation.
In the years 2008-2013 he served as the president of PKP Cargo — the second largest rail carrier in Europe. He was responsible for the comprehensive restructuring of the company, preparation of the development strategy and implementation of processes that enabled its stock exchange debut. In 2016-2017, he headed the Ukrainian Railways as presidentled modernization projects increasing the operational efficiency of one of the largest railway companies in Europe.
He was also associated with, among others, with PKO Bank Polski and Inteligo Financial Services. He sat on the supervisory boards of companies of strategic importance, including: PLL LOT SA and PKP SA, where he served as chairman. He also acted as vice-president of Employers of Poland and the European Organization of Public Sector Employers (CEEP). On the private market, he has proven himself as an effective entrepreneur and investor.
Before taking up the position of minister, he headed the Industrial Development Agency.
Wojciech Balczun is a graduate of political science at the University of Silesia in Katowice. He also completed MBA studies validated by Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus University.
On July 24, 2025, he was appointed Minister of State Assets.
