Fraudsters impersonating the Ministry of Finance send false emails with information about overpayment in PIT tax is an attempt to extort information – warns the Ministry of Finance in a Thursday communication. MF emphasizes that it never sends such emails.


“During the period of submitting tax returns, the activity of fraudsters increases, who are trying to extort taxpayers' details. We appeal for special caution,” the ministry emphasized in a statement.
“The Ministry of Finance and the National Tax Administration never notify in e -mails about the verification of the PIT declaration and a refund overpayment” – the ministry noted. He added that taxpayers in e -mails received from fraudsters are asked to confirm identification data and bank account, which is an attempt to extort their information. Fraudsters can also use fake websites.
The ministry indicated that if you receive a message that raises doubts of the taxpayer, you should call and explain this situation on the helpline of Kas: 22 330 03 30. At the same time, the user can use the CERT platform, which is used to report any incidents related to cyber security
Real information on tax overpayment can be found in the tax e-tool (E-US) at taxes.gov.pl. Login is done using a government platform. “In E -US, the taxpayer can also track the tax refund status. Information on tax overpayment can also be obtained at the Tax Office,” the ministry said. (PAP)
