Shocking kidnapping attempt in Italy: a Romanian seriously injured a little girl by tearing her from her mother's arms
A shocking incident took place on Saturday around 1pm outside the Esselunga supermarket in Via Corridoni, Bergamo, Italy. A homeless Romanian man tried to kidnap a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, suddenly yanking her from her mother's arms and breaking her leg.

According to witnesses and images captured by surveillance cameras, the aggressor grabbed the girl while the family was leaving the store. The man tried to drag her inside the supermarket, violently yanking her from the arms of the mother, who was holding the child by the hand. The mother managed to resist and screamed for help, while the girl's father immediately intervened to immobilize the attacker, reports Corriere Della Serra.
Several bystanders and store security guards supported the family, managing to hold the man down until the police arrived. The patrol that arrived at the scene put the child in safety and escorted the aggressor to the police station.

The girl was taken to the hospital for medical examinations, which confirmed a fractured femur, caused by the violence used during the attempted abduction. The police investigation, based on witness statements and surveillance camera images, allowed the precise reconstruction of the events.
The Romanian was arrested for aggravated kidnapping, as the victim is under 14, and for grievous bodily harm. The public prosecutor ordered his transfer to prison and will ask the investigating judge to validate the arrest for attempted aggravated kidnapping and grievous bodily harm.
The authorities warn that the aggressor, being homeless, risks a severe punishment for the committed acts. The incident shocked the local community and sparked reactions regarding the safety of children in public spaces.
