EU citizens are increasingly concerned about the future in the face of global threats. Among the EU's “27”, Poles stand out for their optimism. – 67 percent of them look positively at the future of the world, 70 percent for the future of the Union, and 78 percent for the future of their own country – according to an EP study.

New EU study

The Eurobarometer survey published on Wednesday shows that these are the greatest concerns among EU citizens conflicts in the neighborhood (72%), terrorism (67%), natural disasters exacerbated by climate change (66%), cyberattacks (66%) and uncontrolled migration (65%). Disinformation, hate speech online and offline, fake content generated by artificial intelligence and data protection threats are also of concern.

In response to these threats Europeans demand greater EU unity – 89%. believes that Member States should act together86 percent expects the EU's voice to be stronger in the international arena, and 73 percent supports increasing EU funds for joint counteracting threats.

According to respondents, the EU's priorities should be defense and security (40%), competitiveness of the economy and industry (32%) and energy independence (29%).

Poles are exceptionally optimistic

Although Poles show high concerns about security, conflicts, terrorism, migration and cyberattacks, they remain extremely optimistic. 67 percent of them look positively at the future of the world, 70 percent for the future of the Union, and 78 percent for the future of their own country – according to an EP study. Despite geopolitical tensions, citizens' attitudes towards the EU remain positive. 62 percent Europeans consider EU membership to be beneficial, and 49 percent evaluates the Union positively. The biggest supporters remain young people aged 15-30.

The Eurobarometer survey was conducted between 6 and 30 November 2025 in 27 EU countries, covering 26,453 face-to-face and online interviews. The results take into account the population of individual countries.
