On Friday, at the headquarters of the Central Statistical Office in Warsaw, a conference was held to inaugurate the Tourism Observatory – a new analysis and data center devoted to tourism in Poland created by the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism and the Central Statistical Office.

The deputy minister of sport and tourism, Ireneusz Raś, and the president of the Central Statistical Office, Marek Cierpiał-Wolan, were present at the event and presented preliminary data on tourist traffic last year. – We have needed such a modern statistical research center for tourism for a long time – said Raś, who opened the conference.

The data presented show that in 2025 the number of tourists staying in accommodation facilities in Poland amounted to 58.9 million, which is an increase of 11.6%. compared to 2024. There were also more foreign tourists, numbering 9.7 million in 2025 and 7.9 million in 2024 – an increase of 13.1%.

Tourists, both domestic and foreign, most often stayed in the following voivodeships: Masovian (11 million), Lesser Poland (10.3 million) and Lower Silesia (7.1 million). The Central Statistical Office indicated that in 8 out of 10 counties with the highest intensity of tourist traffic there was an increase compared to 2024. Cities such as Warsaw gained the most tourists (8.7 million more than in 2024), then Kraków (5.2 million more), and then Gdańsk, which was visited by 2.9 million more in 2025 than in 2024.

Moreover, in 2025 by 9.5%. compared to 2024, tourist spending in Poland also increased. Last year, they amounted to PLN 94,184 million, and in 2024, PLN 86,13 million.

– All of this is record data. (…) For me, these are incredible arguments that show what tourism means to the Polish economy – emphasized Raś. As he added, the Tourist Observatory will provide such reliable data all the time.

The Tourist Observatory is a joint project of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Central Statistical Office. It aims to strengthen the tourism market monitoring system through the development of research, analyzes and information tools supporting the tourism industry and public administration.

The Observatory will develop, among others: the Tourism PLUS portal presenting time-updated data on the tourism market in Poland in the form of interactive maps, charts and analyses. It is to contain information on the use of accommodation facilities, expenses of domestic and foreign tourists and travel purposes, with the possibility of analyzing data at the voivodeship and poviat level.
