The Russian port of Taman on the Black Sea, transited by oil products, grain, coal and cargo, was damaged by a “massive attack” by Ukrainian drones, the governor of Russia's Krasnodar region announced on Sunday, according to Reuters.
Two people were injured and an oil storage tank, a warehouse and terminals were damaged in the village of Volna, where the port of Taman is located, Veniamin Kondratyev said on Telegram.
Kondratyev said that anti-aircraft had been operating since Saturday night all night against Ukrainian drones and that 126 people with 34 machines were working to put out several fires in the port.
Separate attacks on the resort of Sochi and the village of Yurovka, located near the coastal city of Anapa, caused less significant damage, he added.
Ukraine has resumed strikes on Russia's energy infrastructure in recent days, following the expiration of a US-negotiated moratorium on such attacks.
Russia has repeatedly targeted energy and utility infrastructure in Ukraine, cutting off heating and electricity to hundreds of thousands of people amid this unusually frigid winter.
Industry sources said about 4.16 million tonnes of petroleum products were transported through Taman last year.
