Many people notice that over time a white coating appears in the kettle, the water begins to smell like “metal,” and heating takes more and more time. This is scale – a limescale deposit that not only spoils the taste of tea, but also reduces the service life of equipment.
But there is a way to gently and completely remove scale without harsh odors or chemicals. And you already have it in your kitchen.
How to do it:
- Pour 2 tablespoons of baking soda into the kettle.
- Pour water to the maximum line.
- Boil and leave to cool for 30–40 minutes.
- Drain the water and wipe the inner walls with a soft sponge or brush.
- Boil clean water 1-2 times to remove any residue.
Baking soda gently dissolves limescale, does not scratch the surface and leaves no odor. After just one procedure, the kettle will sparkle from the inside, and the water will be tasty and clean again.
For prevention, repeat once every 1–2 months. Especially if you have hard water.
Question and answer:
How to descale a kettle without vinegar?
Use baking soda: 2 tbsp. spoons for a full kettle of water. Boil, let sit for 30–60 minutes, then rinse. Odorless, safe and effective.
Why does the water in the kettle smell strange even after cleaning?
Residues of scale or bacteria may remain in hard-to-reach places. After cleaning, be sure to boil clean water 2-3 times and drain.
