The Central Bank of Russia lowered the key rate

The Bank of Russia lowered the key rate, the press service of the Central Bank reports.
The Board of Directors decided to reduce it by 0.5 percentage points — up to 15.5% per annum. Moreover, from October 2024 until June 2025, the rate remained at its historical maximum of 21%.
“The Bank of Russia will assess the feasibility of further reducing the key rate at its upcoming meetings, depending on the sustainability of the slowdown in inflation and the dynamics of inflation expectations. The base scenario assumes an average key rate in the range of 13.5–14.5% per annum in 2026», — the message says.
According to the forecast of the Bank of Russia, taking into account the current monetary policy, annual inflation in 2026 will drop to 4.5–5.5%, and in the second half of the year it will be close to 4%.
The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia, at which the issue of the level of the key rate will be considered, is scheduled for March 20, 2026.
