The operation was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in collaboration with the National Police of Ukraine. The investigation shows that one of the suspects would have been recruited through social networks and would have acted in coordination with agents of the FSB, Russia's federal security service, writes focus.

The two women, aged 24 and 25, were allegedly looking for opportunities to earn money and were offered various sums of money in an online messenger to make improvised explosive devices.

According to investigators, they bought the necessary components and prepared a chemical mixture under the guidance of a “cleaner”who gave them step-by-step instructions.

During the searches, the law enforcement officers discovered chemical substances prepared for the manufacture of explosives, other components used in the construction of the devices, as well as a mobile phone that allegedly contained correspondence confirming the bombing plans.

The authorities claim that the young women were part of the same network involved in the December 2025 attacks in the Darnîtkîi neighborhood of Kyiv. On December 11, several explosions rocked the capital of Ukraine. As a result of the explosions, one person lost his life and another was injured.

Later, the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case for a terrorist act resulting in the death of a person. The first explosion occurred while two members of the National Guard were patrolling the area, and the second when the intervention teams had arrived on the scene.

In that case, three men aged 23, 25 and 27 were arrested. The investigation established that they would have acted at the behest of Russia, having been recruited with the promise of financial gains.

On January 4, another explosion occurred in the Obolonskîi district of Kyiv, where an SUV blew up in a residential yard. According to the authorities, the explosion occurred when the trunk was opened. A soldier was wounded by shrapnel.

The Kyiv prosecutor's office also qualified this incident as a terrorist act. Rescue teams, dog trainers and other specialized services intervened at the scene.

Investigators say the busted network was coordinated from the Russian Federation, and authorities are continuing investigations to identify all those involved.
