Orlen and KOWR join forces. Plans for cooperation with agriculture were announced

Orlen and the National Support Center for Agriculture have established strategic cooperation in the area of construction, operation and development of biogas and biomethane installations in Poland – Orlen announced in a press release.


As reported, the partnership supports the implementation of Orlen's strategic goals until 2035, including the development of up to 240 million cubic meters. biomethane annually, which will accelerate the decarbonization of transport and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Modern energy is a direction that we consistently turn into real projects. Today, almost 70 percent of our production comes from low- and zero-emission sources. The agreement with KOWR allows us to better use the opportunities of Polish agriculture and effectively scale investments in biogas and biomethane. Thanks to this cooperation, we will accelerate the development of a network of biomethane plants, which will provide us with stable, clean fuel and contribute to the decarbonization of transport,” said Robert Soszyński, vice-president of the management board of Orlen, quoted in the release. Operations.
Orlen's cooperation with KOWR includes the exchange of knowledge and experience, joint investment projects and the use of real estate from the Agricultural Property Resource of the State Treasury with the participation of companies supervised by KOWR. Its goal is to create new production capacity in locations with high development potential.
“The agreement with KOWR gives us access to key resources and partners in the agricultural sector, enabling the implementation of projects throughout the country. In cooperation with farmers, we will process waste and residues from agricultural production into fuel for energy, heating and transport. Our investments will actually contribute to reducing emissions and create lasting value for each party to the agreement,” said Jan Pajek, president of Orlen Biometan.
As stated, joint activities will significantly strengthen the development of the biogas and biomethane market, which is one of the key elements of the company's strategy of increasing energy independence and achieving climate goals. The partnership includes the management of agricultural waste and its use for the production of bioLNG, which will directly support the implementation of the National Indicative Target in the Orlen Group.
