The man who, last summer, killed his pregnant partner with an ax, in the Prahova town of Lipănești, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Prahova Court. The decision is not final.

A panel of the Prahova Court found Munteanu Constantin Marian guilty of qualified murder of a family member and disturbing public order and peace, according to News.ro.

According to the sentence, the man killed his 22-year-old partner using an ax with an 80-centimeter tail and a 20-centimeter blade. The woman, who was pregnant, had no chance of survival.

The court ordered him to pay moral damages in the amount of over 600,000 euros to the children and other relatives of the victim. Also, the judges decided to collect the biological samples for the establishment of the genetic profile and its registration in the National Judicial Genetic Data System.

The sentence is not final and can be appealed within 10 days of communication.

The crime, committed on the street, in front of the children

According to local media, the young woman, who was pregnant, ran away from the home of her partner, a 37-year-old man who was beating her, and returned to her parents' home.

In June, the man had come to persuade her to return. Faced with a refusal, he killed her.

“The girl kept saying over and over “I'm not coming, I'm not coming, leave me alone because I'm staying with my mother, I'm staying with the children”. She left us at the store and went into a neighbor's yard, took a big ax and when she saw it she said “what is he doing with the axe, isn't he killing us?”, said the mother of the victim quoted by Observer News.

The crime was committed on the street, in the presence of the children and their mother, being captured by a surveillance camera in the area.

Over the years, calls to 112 have been recorded regarding conflicts between the victim and the aggressor or the aggressor and the girl's family.
