Herbarium Festival 2026: the largest wellness festival in the world dedicated to herbal therapies returns to Therme Bucharest

Therme Bucharest, the largest relaxation and well-being center in Europe and one of the best-known tourist attractions in Romania, announces the organization of the Herbarium Festival, an event that will take place between May 4 and 17, 2026. For two weeks, Therme Bucharest becomes the global epicenter of a new type of well-being: one anchored in nature, ritual, culture and authentic reconnection.
Born in Romania and already exported to other Therme locations in Europe, the Herbarium Festival has established itself as a successful international format and as the largest wellness festival dedicated to herbal therapies in the world. The 2026 edition brings together 14 days, 26 countries, 92 global experts and over 800 experiencesoffering visitors the experience of a journey around the world, through cultures, traditions and well-being rituals inspired by nature.
In a global context where wellbeing moves away from quick solutions and turns towards nature, simplicity, authentic rituals and multisensory experiences, Herbarium Festival responds to an increasingly visible need: to slow down, breathe and find balance through direct contact with natural elements.
“We are seeing, globally, a paradigm shift: people are no longer just looking for relaxation, but meaning, reconnection and experiences that bring them closer to nature. Through this festival, we turn that need into a sensory feast: a space where plants and natural sound take over, giving our guests from around the world the deep reconnection they need. Herbarium grew organically, becoming today an international format. For us, the fact that it is a concept born in Romania and recognized in Europe is a genuine reason for pride.” said Andrada Seitan, Therme Bucharest Marketing & PR Director
14 days. 26 countries. 800 experiences. A global journey through nature
This year's edition proposes a brave concept: nature is no longer seen as a simple decoration, but becomes the protagonist of the experience. Plants, natural sound, sauna heat, infusions, purification rituals and therapies inspired by ancestral traditions create a living ecosystem where visitors are invited to reconnect with natural rhythms.
During the 14 days, the public will be able to explore rituals and practices from 26 countriesguided by Aufguss masters, holistic therapists and aromatherapy specialists from around the world. From Nordic rituals, Japanese ceremonies and Baltic purification practices, to therapies inspired by the Amazon, Eastern European traditions or experiences with native plants, the Herbarium becomes a form of cultural and sensory tourism, without visitors leaving Therme Bucharest.
The edition's experiences include rituals with fresh plants and herbs, infusions with mint, lavender, chamomile, elder or acacia, artisanal scrubs, respiratory therapies, sauna rituals inspired by local and international traditions, sacred fumigation ceremonies, skin treatments, sound therapy sessions and postural alignment experiences.
Herbarium Frequency and the SoundTree installation: A premiere in Romania
An important novelty of the 2026 edition is the integration of sound as a central pillar of the experience. By Herbarium Frequencythe festival brings live music, natural vibes and artistic installations to the wellness space. For the first time in Romania, the elements of nature, the plants and the heat of the saunas will be accompanied by live music, proving that sound is an organic extension of nature.
The main attraction is SoundTreean artistic installation presented for the first time in Romania, which transforms sound into a meditative and interactive experience. Visitors can touch the metal tubes of the installation and discover the rhythms of nature through unique sound vibrations.
The experience is completed by live moments in the Hollywood sauna and other Therme areas: MUSE QUARTETin an elegant fusion of classic and contemporary; Corina, Arthur & Cristi, with handpan, caval, flute, drum and voice; as well as ImpRomania, an international group of students from France, Romania, Montenegro, Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, Bosnia and Armenia.
Herbarium LAB: nature becomes science and experience
On the weekends May 8–10 and May 15–17the Herbarium LAB transforms all areas of the Therme into an exploration space dedicated to the whole family. Thematic workshops and workshops bring the universe of plants closer to the public, through experiences that combine education, creativity and relaxation.
An essential element of the edition is the partnership between Therme Bucharest and The Faculty of Horticulture within USAMV Bucharestwhere plant science, sustainability and the natural world become part of the festival experience. Workshops are designed and run by teachers and researchers with expertise in botany, phytotherapy and the study of plants.
Visitors will be able to participate in Ikebana, Oshibana, Kokedama, Morimono workshops, olfactory analyzes of mint and lavender essential oils, micro-gardening experiments, explorations of medicinal plants, activities dedicated to children and workshops on Romanian botanical traditions. This deep connection with the natural environment is complemented by interactive wellness experiences. From cosmetic treatments based on herbs and plants in the Galaxy Relax wet saunas, to gentle “foam skincare” rituals created especially for the little ones, the Herbarium LAB becomes the perfect link between education, relaxation and pure curiosity to explore. (The complete program of the workshops is available on therme.ro).

A Romanian concept, exported to Europe
Herbarium Festival is one of the most relevant examples of Therme's ability to innovate in the wellness industry. Created, developed and refined in Bucharest, the festival was later exported to other Therme locations in Europe, confirming the success of a local concept with international relevance. Through the Herbarium, Therme București strengthens its role as a leader in well-being in Romania and as a generator of experiences that can be scaled internationally. At the same time, the festival contributes to the positioning of Bucharest as attractive destination for foreign tourists interested in wellness, nature and immersive experiences.
“Therme București has become, in recent years, a destination in itself for tourists from all over the world. We see a constant increase in the international audience, attracted not only by the infrastructure, but by the experiences we develop. The Herbarium is one of the strongest examples of this.” said Cosmin Ciric, Director of Wellness Therme Bucharest
