CSM CSU Oradea and CSO Voluntari won in the FIBA ​​Europe Cup, respectively in the European North Basketball League. The Romanian vice-champion prevailed 107-100 on the ground of Cedevita Junior Zagreb (Croatia), while the Ilfovenians won 87-83 against Syntainics MBC (Germany).

In the evening when U-BT Cluj-Napoca defeated Aris Salonic, score 111-92and qualified for the round of 16 of the BKT EuroCup, two other teams represented Romania in European inter-club competitions.

CSM CSU Oradea ended the FIBA ​​Europe Cup season with a trip to Cedevita Junior Zagreb, in a complicated moment for the team. Two days ago, in a press conference, Cristian Achim, the long-time coach of the red-blues, announced that he had made the decision to retire at the end of the season, being overwhelmed by the pressure.

In this context, CSM Oradea played very well in the capital of Croatia, dominating especially in the second quarter, which they won 35-19. The Bihorens preserved their advantage in the third sequence, but Cedevita Junior returned in the decisive act, but not having the strength to change the fate of the game.

CSM Oradea won 107-100 and finished group L in 3rd place, with 3 wins and 3 losses. Leading the way for the win were Emmanuel Nzekwesi (17 points, 11 rebounds), Thomas Bropleh (16 points), Nikola Kocovic (14 points), Sayeed Pridgett (11 points) and Kris Richard (11 points).

Thanks to the 11 points, Richard, the leader of Oradea, reached 1006 points in the FIBA ​​Europe Cup and became the solitary leader in this chapter in the fourth continental competition in value.

On the other side, Jordan Gainey (14 points), Niko Sare (13 points) and Clarence Daniels (13 points) stood out.

CSO Voluntari, triumphant in the derby with Syntainics MBC

CSO Voluntari did not have an easy game with Syntainics MBC, in the European North Basketball League. The Germans started the match well and won the first quarter 27-17. The white-blue team returned in the second sequence and entered the locker room with a 4-point advantage: 43-39.

After the break, the duel was even, but CSO Voluntari managed the key moments excellently and in the end won 87-83, reaching a record of 7 wins and one loss.

Leading scorers for the hosts were Lee Skinner (21 points), Kodi Justice (14 points), Mike Caffey (13 points) and Sacar Anim (12 points).

On the other side, the guests responded through Spencer Reaves (18 points), Jure Planinic (13 points) and Collin Welp (13 points).

Due to this result, CSO Voluntari finished group A of the ENBL in first place and qualified for the “eights” of the competition.
