Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, 69, became the first American leader of the Roman Catholic Church on Thursday. The new Pontiff, Leon XIV, says he is a tennis fan, writes Le Figaro.

While Pope Francis was a big fan of football and declared himself a supporter of the Argentine Club San Lorenzo, his successor is a fan of tennis.

In an interview given at the time when he was Cardinal, the new Pope, originally from Chicago, stated the following: “I consider myself an amateur tennis player.”

“Since I left Peru, I have had few opportunities to train, so I can hardly wait to come back on the ground,” he said, quoted by News.ro.
