Kristof Lajos, nicknamed the “genius trainer”, definitively convicted of rape and sexual assault

Kristof Lajos, known in the public space as the “genius coach”, was definitively sentenced, on Wednesday, to 7 years and 10 months in prison for rape and sexual assault, the victims being two minor brothers. The decision was pronounced by the Bucharest Court of Appeal and is final.
The court almost halved the sentence established in the first instance. In July 2025, the 4th District Court sentenced him to 13 years and 3 months in prison.
“On the basis of Article 38 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code in accordance with Article 39 paragraph 1 letter b) of the Criminal Code, it merges the main punishments and imposes on the defendant the heaviest punishment, 6 years in prison, to which he adds the increase of one third of the other one, namely 1 year and 10 months in prison, with the defendant finally serving the resulting sentence of 7 years and 10 months in prison, under the regime of detention”, it is stated in the decision of the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
Also, the appeals court reduced the compensation awarded to the victims to 30,000 euros, from 100,000.
On January 16, 2025, the prosecutors who handled the case involving Kristof Lajos, the “genius trainer”, ordered his sent to court for the rape of a minor.
The act was instrumentalized after, in the summer of 2024, the 39-year-old man was caught red-handed raping a 14-year-old boy.
Also, Kristof Lajos was sent to court for rape, “undetermined number of material documents”.
Lajos Kristof said that the sexual acts with the 14-year-old victim took place unconsciously, being a sleepwalker, according to TVR Info.
The man was chased for two weeks by the policemen from the 26th Precinct, before he was caught in the act.
According to the investigators, he offered the child, over time, sums of money, goods such as clothes and an iPhone, approached the child and determined him to distance himself from the family, gradually inoculating him with the idea that the family is harmful and thus becoming the person of attachment for the minor.
Who is the “genius coach”
Lajos Kristof was known as the “genius coach” for abandoned children. Himself raised in Child Protection centers, he received award after award at the international level, including the Award for Excellence in Education and Mentoring at the IG Award Ceremony, for Amias Small School, a project through which special children enjoy education.
He said that the system he applies is unique, representative of the reforming systems that have the courage to include children with double exceptionality, children with above average intelligence, children from families with a history of family violence, children with special educational needs (learning disabilities, ADHD, ADD, Autism).
