Due to bureaucratic problems, Romania's first representative in the Olympic yachting trials, Ebru Bolat, is asking for donations to be able to continue her training.

In 2024, in Paris, Ebru Bolat became the first representative of Romania in history in women's yachting competitions at the Olympic Games.

Constanțanca carried the tricolor at sea for the first time, in the Olympic contest in France, in the ILCA-6 class, finishing in an honorable 6th place.

A year later, the 26-year-old athlete ticked off another spectacular performance, finishing the World Championships in the Top 10, the best ranking of her career. However, the new year began with an unpleasant surprise, Ebru Bolat being left without funding due to bureaucracy.

Budget delays

Lacking support, she appealed for donations so she could continue her training for the new competitive season.

“I've always tried to be as transparent as possible with you guys, so I'm going to say things exactly as they are at this time. At the moment, sports budgets have not yet been approved at government level and funding to the federations is delayed.

It's a temporary situation that affects many sports, not just my case. I want to say very clearly that my training until now was possible thanks to the support I received from the federation, COSR, ANS and everyone who was with me – without this support I would not have reached the point where I am today.

However, this period is one of transition, in which many of the costs must be covered in advance, and until things stabilize, I'm trying to find solutions to be able to continue my normal training and competition schedule”, warned the athlete in a post on Facebook.

Even though he signed in January with CSM Constanța, Ebru Bolat revealed that he needs 6,000 euros to comply with the established training program. Money can be donated to her 4fund account.

“This is not a post of complaint. Sport has taught me to look for solutions when things get complicated, and one of them is to turn to the community that has always been close to me, to the people who follow, understand and support the work behind the hours spent on the water. To be able to continue training in February, I am trying to raise about €6000, an amount that covers the basic costs of this period.

All money raised will be invested strictly in preparation: days on the water, training in the gym, equipment, nutrition, supplements, transport and logistics. I am totally involved in this project and I am giving it absolutely everything I have. Physically, mentally and financially”, revealed the woman from Constanta.

Any contribution helps, and if you can't support financially, a like or share can help spread the word. There is no such thing as “this is the situation”. There are only steps forward and solutions found together. And if you have any ideas or other ways you think you could help me, I'd love to hear them. Thank you to all of you who are already part of my journey and those who choose to be with me in the future
