Donald Trump talks about talks with Iran. Suggests “very harsh actions”

In recent weeks, the US has strengthened its military presence in the Near and Middle East. On February 3, an American F-35 fighter shot down an Iranian Shahed-139 drone, which – in the opinion of American troops – “aggressively” approached the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which is in neutral waters of the Arabian Sea.
On Friday, in the capital of Oman – Muscat – US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner talked with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi about the possibility of resuming official negotiations on the Iran nuclear agreement. After this meeting, Aragchi stated that Iran did not trust the United States and described the outcome of these talks as uncertain.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump spoke about tensions between Washington and Iran. In an interview with Axios journalist Barak Ravid, he stated that if talks on the Iranian nuclear program do not end in an agreement, he will be ready to use military force.
– Either we reach an agreement or we will have to take very harsh actions, as we did recently, he said, referring to the US strike on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.
At the same time, Trump said that contact with the Iranians is now “completely different” and that they are “more flexible” than before last year's war.
— We can make an excellent deal with Iran. They will not have nuclear weapons, they will not have missiles, said the US president.
