Nine members of the commission voted for the reprimand, six were against. Therefore, the proposal of MP Katarzyna Stachowicz (KO) to punish Zbigniew Ziobro with a reprimand was accepted.

“Pursuant to Article 22(1)(3) of the Rules, Deputies' Affairs and Immunities Committee reprimands MP Zbigniew Ziobro for failing to perform his parliamentary duties by failing to participate in Sejm sessions without justification for more than 18 consecutive days of Sejm sessions,” it was emphasized in the resolution presented by the vice-chairman of the committee, Tomasz Głogowski (KO).

The vote in the committee was preceded by a discussion. Ziobro's defense included, among others: former Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek (PiS), who pointed out that Ziobro was granted asylum in Hungary because in Poland he “cannot count on a fair trial.”

The request regarding Ziobro's absence at Sejm sessions was submitted to the Rules Committee by the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, at the end of January. The Marshal said then that when the commission presented its position to him, Zbigniew Ziobro would have time to appeal against the decision. Then, the Marshal will want to present to the Presidium of the Sejm a draft resolution on the loss of the parliamentary allowance and reducing the parliamentary salary to one tenth of the amount, i.e. PLN 1,350. gross per month.

Next on the “list” Romanowski

On Tuesday, the Rules, Deputies' Affairs and Immunities Committee reprimanded PiS MP Marcin Romanowski. The decision was made after considering the letter of the Speaker of the Sejm on this matter, regarding the absence of a PiS MP at Sejm sessions.

Nine members of the commission voted for the reprimand, six were against.

Vice-chairman of the committee Tomasz Głogowski (KO) emphasized that Marcin Romanowski has not participated in the work of the Sejm since July 8, 2025. He added that at the end of January there were 41 consecutive days of Sejm sessions.

Earlier, the committee passed a similar motion regarding Zbigniew Ziobro (PiS). The committee had three options: to draw the MP's attention, to issue a warning or a reprimand.

In both cases, PiS MPs were defended by their club colleague, former Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek.

PiS MP Marcin Romanowski has been staying in Hungary since December 2024, where he received political asylum. The politician believes that he cannot count on a fair trial in Poland, and he treats his “mission on the Danube” as a fight against lawlessness and as an effort to “remove from power as quickly as possible a regime that is harmful to Poles.” The MP informed that he had renounced his status as a professional MP and therefore he would not receive a parliamentary salary. Romanowski, former deputy head of the Ministry of Justice, is a suspect in the investigation into the Justice Fund. (PAP)
