The value of some stamps circulating among collectors around the world is mind-boggling. The largest and most wealthy philatelists are ready to pay more for a unique item than for a luxury house, yacht or car. For example British Guiana 1c Magenta, considered the most expensive postage stamp in the world, was sold at auction in 2014 for USD 9.48 million. This is the highest price in the history of philately. According to official information, there is only one copy of this stamp.

In second place is Red Mauritius from 1847. One of the three copies is apparently owned by the British royal family, the other is in the philatelic collection of the British Library in London. Its estimated value is over EUR 8 million, and the last sale of the third copy was recorded in 2021.

The image of the boxers was printed upside down in relation to the inscription “Poczta Polska” and the denomination of 20 groszy. In 2010, at one of the online auctions, the starting price was PLN 75,000. zloty.
