“The athletes will receive the first $100,000 20 years after their first participation in the Olympic Games or when they turn 45 (whichever comes later).

The second half of the $100,000 is intended as a guaranteed benefit for athletes' families after their death. I believe that financial insecurity should not prevent our nation's elite from pushing the boundaries of excellence,” financier Ross Stevens said, according to the previously cited source.

Linsdey Vonn's first participation in the Olympic Games took place in 2002, in Salt Lake City, in the United States of America.

Linsdey Vonn suffered a terrible injury on Sunday in the downhill event at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina. The American competed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. As a result of the fall, Vonn suffered a fractured tibia and was rushed to the hospital by helicopter.
