The total portfolio of investment instruments on the stock market of VTB's wealthy clients grew 1.4 times in 2025 (+700 billion rubles), reaching 2.6 trillion rubles. The growth was provided by bonds and mutual funds against the backdrop of a flow of funds from stocks.
The portfolio of debt instruments increased 2.7 times to 1.2 trillion rubles. (+813 billion rubles). This significant increase is due to increased demand for both corporate and government bonds, which in the current environment are considered by investors as an instrument with stable and predictable returns. The strong monetary cycle and attractive rates have made this asset class a major growth driver for the overall private equity market.
“Long-term investing is based on a balanced approach to asset diversification and prompt response to changing market conditions. Our clients prefer to strengthen positions in debt instruments, corporate and government, as well as collective investment instruments that provide diversification. We are seeing great interest in bond funds and mixed investments. The total volume of our portfolio of investment instruments in the stock market increased by 40%, which indicates continued interest in stock instruments. We expect that this growth will continue at an accelerated pace this year,” commented Oksana Semenenko, Senior Vice President, Head of Private Banking and Privilege at VTB.
Investments in Russia are becoming more accessible to a wider audience: the number of private investors on the Moscow Exchange has exceeded 40 million people. Along with this, the need for algorithms that make the process easier and faster is growing. According to VTB forecasts, in the next 2-3 years, 45-55% of retail clients making investment transactions will at least occasionally use AI tips when choosing investment products. For 20-30% this interaction will become regular. Approximately 15-25% will trust AI not only to select, but also to automatically rebalance the portfolio within pre-agreed parameters.
