A four-year-old girl from Teleorman, visiting Gorj county, arrived on Saturday evening in extremely serious condition at the Emergency Reception Unit of Târgu Jiu County Hospital. Police are investigating a possible attempted murder.

The child had severe head trauma and multiple injuries on the body, according to medical sources and from the investigation, reports AS in Gorj.

Her mother, a 20-year-old, initially stated that the little girl “fell out of bed“.

However, the doctors found that the injuries did not correspond to such a fall, which is why they immediately alerted the authorities. The social worker from the UPU notified the police, and the case was taken over by the Gorj Criminal Investigation Service.

“A 4-year-old child was brought, on 02/08/2026, to the UPU by his mother, a 20-year-old woman living in Teleorman county. The child was in a very serious condition. Considering the severity and nature of the injuries, the investigators opened a criminal case for attempted murder.
