Meteorologists announce a weekend with unstable weather and significant rain in several areas of Romania. The most affected regions will be Oltenia, northwestern Muntenia and southern Banat, where significant precipitation and strong wind are expected in the mountainous areas, with gusts of up to 80 km/h on the high ridges. At high altitudes, in the Southern Carpathians, precipitation will turn into snow, meteorologists said.

“We are experiencing heavy rains. Water amounts of 50 liters per square meter have already been recorded in the northwestern part of Oltenia and in the western part of the Southern Carpathians, and this episode will continue for the next few days. The weather warning is valid until Sunday morning, at 10:00 a.m.” said meteorologist Mihai Huștiu, for Antena 3 CNN.

On Saturday, until 15:00, nowcasting yellow code warnings of strong wind are in force in Argeș, Prahova and Dâmbovița counties, in mountain areas, at altitudes above 1800 meters, where the wind will reach gusts of 90-110 km/h. Also, in Caraș-Severin, gusts will reach 50-70 km/h.

“In the next 24 hours, new amounts of precipitation are expected, of 10-20 liters per square meter, isolated even 25 liters per square meter, above those already recorded. These rains are brought by a mass of warm and humid air coming from the Mediterranean Sea basin, which is why the weather remains closed and rainy in the coming period”, explained Hustiu.

The meteorologist also specified that temperatures will be higher in the southeast of the country: “Tomorrow we expect temperatures of 19-20 degrees Celsius in Dobrogea, and on Monday the thermal values will rise to 18-19 degrees Celsius in the south of the region. There will also be phenomena of atmospheric instability, short-term rains and electrical discharges, associated with the warm and humid air coming from the Mediterranean Sea.”

After a temporary break in the rain on Sunday, it will return from Sunday night into Monday, spreading to the southwest, then the south, center and east of the country. “Temporarily, significant amounts of water are expected again. On Tuesday, the rains will be restricted to the southeast – Muntenia and Dobrogea – and then towards the middle of the week, from Wednesday to Thursday, they will gradually stop”. added Hustiu.

Meteorologists also warn that in the following mornings there will be periods of fog and low cloudiness, a phenomenon specific to the month of November. “After the higher temperatures of the weekend and the beginning of next week, they will drop slightly. We expect that, as a whole, next week the daytime values will be between 9 and 15 degrees Celsius, and at night the temperatures will be positive, dropping below zero only in eastern Transylvania – in Harghita and Covasna, where they can reach minus 2, minus 3 degrees Celsius. Otherwise, pleasant November weather, but gloomy and rainy”the ANM meteorologist also said.
