In the spring of 2026, 64 deer will be released into the wild in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry of the region
The animals will be resettled on the territory of three reserves – “Solgonsky Ridge”, “Arga” and “Byuzinsky”, among them there will be both adult individuals about 10 years old and last year’s young animals. Before being released into specially protected natural areas, all deer are carefully examined to make sure that each of them is healthy. The animals are currently in quarantine.
“Thanks to a complex of zootechnical work, good winter feeding in enclosures and high-quality preparation for the breeding season, over the years of work we have managed to achieve a regular litter of over 90%. Due to the release of deer in protected areas, the population is maintained throughout the region: after settling in a new place, the animals spread to border areas,” said Maxim Zamyslov, director of the regional directorate for protected areas.

Specialists will continue to protect the deer even after release: inspectors will patrol their habitats, monitor the condition of the deer, and also set up feeding troughs and salt licks.
Let us remind you that the Argin subpopulation of deer, living in the Bogotol and Achinsk municipal districts, is listed in the Red Book of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. All species of deer in the region are included in the regional list of vulnerable species.
The nursery for wild ungulates, from which red deer are annually released into the regional specially protected natural areas, is located on the basis of the Byuzinsky nature reserve and covers an area of 202 hectares. It was created in 2014. During this time, 549 baby deer were born here, and 458 individuals were released into the wild.
