Governor Mikhail Kotyukov checked the progress of construction of a sports and recreation complex on Aviatorov Street in Krasnoyarsk.
The press service of the regional government reported that the facility will become the central site of the Basketball Academy. The new sports and recreation center includes two basketball courts with stands for spectators, sports and gyms, as well as classrooms for theoretical classes. The building is more than 50% complete: columns and ceilings have already been installed, brickwork and metal frame are ready.
Roofing and electrical work is currently ongoing at the site. The planned commissioning date for the health and fitness center is summer 2026. The director of the Yenisei regional basketball sports school, Evgeny Kurilov, notes that young athletes are really looking forward to the appearance of the new complex.
“The regional basketball school will finally get its long-awaited basketball home. The guys will have a full-fledged training process – something that is currently missing. We will also be able to invite experienced trainers to improve the skills of our students. At this facility we will hold various sporting events: championships of Russia and the region, children’s all-Russian competitions – everything that we now sorely lack in the region,” said Evgeny Kurilov.
Let us recall that in his message on the main directions of economic and social policy of the region in May 2025, Governor Mikhail Kotyukov supported the idea of creating a Basketball Academy in Krasnoyarsk. Basketball is one of the most popular team sports in the region. Classes at the academy will significantly improve the level of training of local basketball players, coaches and referees.
