Ukraine is still trying to convince Donald Trump's administration to share its Tomahawk missiles, while there are more and more indications that Kiev will soon have an arsenal that may prove even more important in terms of exerting political pressure on the Kremlin and forcing Russians to make real concessions in peace talks.
Such a theory can be based on an interview given by the founders of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, which produces missiles for our neighbor. In an interview with “Deutsche Welle” they revealed the company's upcoming plans and it must be admitted that they sound really impressive. It turns out that Weapons such as these may debut on the front line in February, the deliveries of which depend on the good mood and political interests of the White House.
Ukrainian ATACMS is close to its combat debut
Fire Point is currently one of the most important Ukrainian arms companies, and its role may soon only increase. This company is responsible for, among others, behind the production of the FP-5 cruise missile (with a range of 3,000 km and an 1,100-kilogram warhead), which this week showed its capabilities by hitting the Kremlin's missile training ground, where Moscow is testing, among others, Oreshnik ballistic missile.
As it turns out, Fire Point is very close to completing work on the next, theoretically even more dangerous FP-7 and FP-9 missiles. As one of the company's founders says in an interview with “Deutsche Welle”, FP-7 “is a cheap replacement for the ATACMS missile”, with a range of 300 km and a smaller warhead, designed for “short-range attacks where high speed and precision of the strike are important.”

The FP-9 missile with a range of 850 km and a warhead weighing 800 kg promises to be even more dangerous. “A range of 800 km means Moscow or St. Petersburg,” says Denis Shtilerman, chief designer of Fire Point, bluntlysomehow suggesting in what direction the new weapon might fly. Shtilerman also revealed one more very important information – both missiles are already in the final phase of testing and it is possible that they will be ready to start combat operations in February!
The company's representatives add that ballistic missiles are the key to attacking heavily defended cities like Moscow.
Hitting Moscow with a ballistic missile will be much easier. Drones and cruise missiles simply cannot reach the Russian capital in the numbers needed to have a noticeable effect. The only hope here are high-velocity ballistic missiles, at least 1,200 meters per second.
Cruise missiles typically travel at subsonic speeds, so they are easier to intercept than ballistic missiles flying at hypersonic speeds, which are more than five times the speed of sound. This single characteristic alone makes it a much more dangerous weapon, especially in the context of attacking cities like Moscow – heavily protected by air defense systems.

If Kiev received two new types of weapons, the Kremlin could one day wake up to a new war reality. However, a lot depends on how quickly Ukraine will be able to produce FP-7 and FP-9 missilesbecause only the regular use of this weapon can have the appropriate effect on Moscow, e.g. in the form of greater Russian concessions regarding the peace agreement.
One thing is certain – there is political will in Kiev to use new missiles also to attack the Russian capital. President Volodymyr Zelensky himself spoke about it in a conversation with Donald Trump in mid-2025. However, Ukraine did not have weapons capable of carrying out effective strikes of this type at that time.
Mysterious cargo from the USA
Since Donald Trump took power in January 2025, the United States has withdrawn military aid to Ukraine in the form of free arms packages. Currently, Ukraine must either finance the purchase of American weapons itself or count on financial support from the West. And, as new photos released by the U.S. military show, such purchases are still happening.

The photos show a Ukrainian An-124 transport plane mysteriously loading at the airport at a US Air Force base in California. What exactly does a plane from the US take? We don't know this because Ukraine does not disclose details of this type of flights. It's hard to even speculate, because the list may include a really wide range of weapons. The most optimistic scenario would certainly be interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, which constitute an extremely important element of Ukrainian air defense, primarily against Russian ballistic missiles.
The An-124 plane itself is a truly impressive structure with a length of 69 meters and a wingspan of 73 meters. When empty, it weighs as much as 188 t and despite such a huge mass, it can accelerate to a speed of up to 860 km per hour. If necessary, the machine can fly up to 14,000 meters with a minimum load. km on one refuelingmoving at an altitude of 12 km. The plane is also able to use makeshift runways and even land and take off from frozen snow.

It is worth adding that since their creation, An-124 aircraft have had several minor and major accidents, e.g. on October 13, 1992, a plane operated by Antonov Airlines crashed during tests near Kiev. The pilot lost control of the plane, which plunged into the forest at high speed, killing eight of the nine crew members. The most tragic, however, was the disaster of December 6, 1997. RA-82005 crashed just after take-off from the airport in Irkutsk, Russia. 23 people on board and 49 people who were in the residential area where the plane fell at the time of the disaster died.
