ANM issued on Sunday a meteorological information valid for the whole country, through which it announces snow, intensification of the wind and a sharp cooling of the weather.

The episode of severe weather will last until Tuesday evening (February 10), ANM said.

According to the forecast, on Sunday and in the night from Sunday to Monday there will be precipitation predominantly in the form of snow in Moldova, the east and southeast of Transylvania.

Later, starting from Monday evening and until Tuesday evening, the snow will spread especially in Oltenia, Banat and Transylvania, as well as in the mountain areas.

In small areas, amounts of water of 5…10 liters per square meter will accumulate, and in the mountainous area and in the south-west of the country they can reach 15 l/m2.

A layer of snow will fall

The deposited snow layer will reach a thickness of 5…10 centimeters, and in the mountains, in general, about 15 centimeters. Isolated, ice or ice will form, according to meteorologists.

The wind will have local intensifications in the southwest, south and east of the country, with speeds of 45-50 km/h. In the Banat Mountains and at high altitudes in the west of the Southern Carpathians, gusts will exceed 80–90 km/h, temporarily blizzarding the snow.

Also, the weather will become particularly cold in the extra-Carpathian regions and frosty during the night from Monday to Tuesday (February 9/10), in Moldova and eastern Transylvania.

Maximum temperatures will fall between -6 and 3 degrees Celsius, and minimums will generally drop between -15 and -5 degrees.

This episode of genuine winter will be followed by significant warming. From Wednesday, the weather will improve considerably, and the temperatures will be far above the usual averages for the second decade of February, the forecast of the National Meteorological Administration, quoted by Rador, also shows.
