“These are the goals that the president has outlined for us.” Preparations for Nicușor Dan's visit to the USA are “in full swing”

Nicușor Dan's advisor on foreign policy and national security, Marius Lazurca, declared on Friday, on public television, that the head of state's visit to the US is a priority and instructed his team members to create “all the conditions” for the meeting with US President Donald Trump.
“The already announced intention is maintained. Moreover, Mr. President asked us, his team of advisers from Cotroceni, to create all the conditions for this visit to take place and for it to also produce the results that Romanian citizens expect from the head of state, more security for Romania, more predictability in an uncertain future, more prosperity for Romanians. These are the goals that the president outlined for us,” said Lazurca in a interview for TVR Info.
The presidential adviser emphasized that developments on the public stage and political disputes do not affect the foundations of the bilateral relationship between Romania and the United States.
“I see no reason why these goals cannot be achieved, even under the complicated conditions we all know,” said Lazurca.
In this regard, Dan's adviser recalled the meeting of the president with the head of NATO forces in Europe, General Christopher Grynkewich, at the “end of last year”. The high-ranking military man was actually received in Cotroceni in January 2026.
Lazurca also invoked a visit by a bipartisan delegation of the American Congress, which Nicușor Dan will receive, scheduled for next week.
Lazurca also specified that the new US ambassador, who is to be accredited in the next period, will have an important role for Dan's expected visit to the US.
“We are waiting for Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg, whom we will quickly accredit and who will become an important actor in the preparation of this visit. So, beyond this political curtain and rhetorical curtain, to which we give due importance, but no more than that, things continue, preparations are in full swing”, assured Marius Lazurca.
