“Russian criminals carried out another massive attack on Ukraine's energy facilities. Substations and 750 kV and 330 kV overhead lines were hit – key elements of the Ukrainian energy network. The enemy also attacked production facilities: thermal power plants in Bursztyn and Dobrotvir,” wrote Shmyhal on the X website.

Both power plants are located in western Ukraine. Dobrotwór is located approximately 60 km from the border with Poland.

The Deputy Prime Minister informed that the transmission system operator Ukrenerho asked Poland for help in an emergency situation. On Saturday morning, Ukrenerho introduced emergency shutdowns in most regions of Ukraine due to another Russian attack.

Szmyhal reported that the power units of one of the nuclear power plants were turned off by the plant's staff. Currently, there are four to five rounds of emergency power outage schedules in force throughout Ukraine, and special emergency outage schedules have been introduced in the eastern and northern regions.

“The attack continues. Energy engineers are ready to start repairs as soon as the security situation allows,” explained the Deputy Prime Minister.

Attack on thermal power plants

According to the State Service for Emergency Situations (DSNS), a fire broke out in a warehouse as a result of a night attack by a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle in the city of Yahourd in the Kiev Oblast. Ukrainian media report that it is a warehouse of the Roshen company, owned by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

The DTEK energy company reported that as a result of new Russian attacks, the equipment of the company's thermal power plants in various regions of Ukraine was significantly damaged.

This is the tenth massive attack on DTEK's thermal power plants since October 2025. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, on February 24, 2022, the thermal power plants of this company have been attacked by Russia more than 220 times, the company emphasized.
