Sławomir Nowak is a former Minister of Transport in the second government of Donald Tusk, who left Polish politics after the watch not included in the property declaration. From 2016, he was the head of the Ukrainian road agency. The prosecutor's office in 2021 accused him of several crimes, mainly corruption. The Ukrainian side also charged him with allegations. Nowak's trial started last year, it was divided into several threads. So -called The “Polish thread”, regarding the alleged acceptance of bribes in exchange for lucrative positions in state-owned companies, was dealt with by the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court. Ultimately, the case was discontinued on Friday due to the “obvious lack of grounds for accusation.” According to TVN's “Facts”, the prosecutor joined the defense application for discontinuation of the proceedings. The article discussing the case emphasized that after the change of power the prosecutor, the clerk of this case, changed.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I confirm, at the first meeting, the District Court in Warsaw discontinued the proceedings against me because of the” obvious lack of grounds “. Former transport minister Sławomir Nowak in December 2021 was accused of committing 17 criminal crimes. In September 2023, another organizational meeting was held in the District Court in Warsaw in this extensive case.

According to the prosecutor's office, Nowak – as the head of the State Motor Roads Service of Ukrawtodor – was to demand and accept property benefits as well as promises of such benefits in the amount of over PLN 6.1 million. In return, he was to support specific entities in proceedings for the award and implementation of public procurement related to road renovation in Ukraine.

The former minister was also accused of money laundering. It is about nearly PLN 8 million. The accusation also applies to the period when Nowak was the head of the political office of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy. According to investigators, the politician was to accept at least 320 thousand. PLN bribes in exchange for help in obtaining lucrative positions and contracts in state -owned companies. He is also accused of accepting 760 thousand. PLN bribe for organizing a meeting of representatives of the development company with the authorities of the City of Gdańsk.

It was these two groups of allegations that were divided into separate trials in 2023. Already at that time, the defender, MEC Nowak's main trial is still in court in the capital. (PAP)
