The supervisory board of Poczta Polska dismissed Sebastian Mikosz from the position of president on Wednesday, the Ministry of Assets announced. The motion to dismiss Mikosz, who had been the company's president for exactly 2 years, was justified, among others, by: the need to ensure compliance of the company's management policy with ownership objectives.

“Today, the Supervisory Board of Poczta Polska SA decided to dismiss Mr. Sebastian Mikosz from the position of President of the Management Board of the Company. The request for dismissal was justified by the need to ensure compliance of the Company's management policy with the ownership objectives and the need to effectively implement strategic assumptions, including rebuilding the company's market position,” the ministry said on Wednesday in an entry on the X platform.
It added that “efficient implementation of the Transformation Plan requires clear management decisions and effective dialogue with the owner, employees, social partners and other stakeholders.”
Two years of Mikosz at Poczta Polska
Sebastian Mikosz was appointed president of Poczta Polska by the supervisory board on March 25, 2024. Previously, from February 15, 2024, he served as acting president, having been delegated from the supervisory board to manage the company. Previously he was, among others, president of LOT Polish Airlines and deputy head of IATA.
Since Mikosz took over the helm of Poczta Polska, the company has been undergoing a deep transformation aimed at saving it from financial collapse and adapting to the modern logistics market.
The main element of the recovery plan was significant employment optimization, implemented primarily through the Voluntary Redundancy Program and not filling vacancies. In 2025, employment decreased by 14.5%, which means the elimination of nearly 8.5 thousand jobs. full-time positions per year. At the end of 2025, the number of full-time positions decreased to approximately 50.2 thousand.
The state postal operator received a total of PLN 2,667,000 from the beginning of 2024 to February 2026. PLN for compensation for the provision of universal services in 2021-2024. The Ministry of State Assets also paid Poczta Polska aid in the years 2024-2025 in the amount of nearly PLN 2 million to remove the effects of the flood of September 2024. Poczta Polska is a State Treasury company, the largest postal operator on the domestic market. Its network covers 7.6 thousand branches, branches and postal agencies throughout Poland. The company delivers 800 million letters and 80 million parcels annually.
In 2024, the company had a net loss of PLN 213 million; it was lower by PLN 408 million compared to 2023. In 2024, Poczta Polska recorded an increase in sales revenues by PLN 200 million, which means a year-on-year improvement of 3 percent, and revenues from universal services increased by PLN 139 million, or 4.8 percent. compared to 2023.
