Surprise mission at Mihail Kogălniceanu: American soldiers landed with the plane of the New England Patriots team
A Boeing 767-300ER aircraft emblazoned with the logo of the American football team New England Patriots landed at Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport on Wednesday to operate a United States military charter flight, according to airport officials and media reports.

The plane, painted in the distinctive blue, white and red colors and commonly used for the trips of the American football team, arrived at the base in Constanța County to transport American military personnel.
“The New England Patriots football team owns two Boeing 767-300ER aircraft (registered N36NE and N225NE) operated by Omni Air International for team travel. These aircraft feature custom blue, white and red graphics with the team logo on the tail and 'New England Patriots' lettering. When not in use by the team, the aircraft are operated by Omni Air for charter missions, including military transport,” it shows in a post on Facebook.
Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport representatives explained that it is about “a military charter for US personnel from Mihail Kogălniceanu”adding that such operations are “frequent but quite rare in such beautiful colors”.
The Constanta base is one of the most important strategic points for NATO forces in the Black Sea region, being frequently used for troop rotations and logistical operations by the United States and its allies.
This unusual landing attracted public attention due to the distinctive appearance of the plane, usually used to transport professional athletes, but this time adapted for a military mission.
