The Minister of Defense finds excuses for delaying the reform of the special pensions: “A broken system for many years cannot be repaired in a month”

The Minister of Defense believes that a special pension reform is needed, but this cannot be done too quickly, as the system imbalances have been created by politicians over several years. Ionuț Moșteanu specifies that the military pensions are different from those of the magistrates.

The statements were made in the show “Politics of the Day”, on B1 TV.
“Even if there are few in number, when they have an average pension of 5,000 euros in a country where the average pension is 500 and something of euros, you realize that it is a major imbalance. And let's put a clear perspective for those who are now in service and for those who are going to go into service, I hear some of them need to be changed by tomorrow”, Said Ionuț Mosteanu.
The Minister of Defense explained that “You cannot change all tomorrow, a system that has been broken by politicians over many years cannot be repaired in a month”.
What about the military who can retire
The Minister of Defense spoke about the 5,000 soldiers who meet the retirement conditions, but are still in the system:
“They have the greatest experience (….) our goal as a country is to keep the experience in the system and to create some correct perspectives for those who enter and to create a social justice ”.
Mosteanu confessed that he understands the revolt of some social categories when I see what pensions others receive.
“It is an images, it is not social justice this and we, as politicians, have to seek a social peace, which will happen not by giving with the bar.” Ionuț Mosteanu pointed out.
We recall that Monday, July 4, the Declic community submitted to the Presidential Administration a petition signed by 85 thousand Romanians who ask President Nicușor Dan to trigger a referendum on the special pensions.
