In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the parents of a deceased convict want to recover 6 million from the GUFSIN

The Berezovsky District Court received a claim for compensation for moral damage in connection with the death of the convict.

The man’s parents filed a demand to recover from the correctional institution of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory 6,000,000 rubles as compensation for moral damage, as well as 56,800 rubles for reimbursement of funeral expenses.

As follows from the statement of claim, from January 8, 2025, the convict served his sentence in a correctional institution, where he was employed as a tractor driver. On November 8 of the same year, while at work, he was seriously injured.

It is reported that the man did not turn off the tractor engine and caught the sleeve of his jacket on the crosspiece of the rotating cardan shaft. As a result, he was pulled towards the tractor frame and pinned. After the incident, the convict was taken to the hospital with numerous fractures, where he died 10 days later.

The man’s parents are confident that there is a direct cause-and-effect relationship between their son’s injuries while performing work duties in a correctional facility and his death.

The court will have to give a legal assessment of the stated requirements.
