The former Minister of Transport Alexandru-Răzvan Cuc was sent to court by the DNA, in the file in which he is accused of brokering a bribe of over one million lei for the general director of the Romanian Auto Registry (RAR), informs Agerpres.
In the same case, the businessman Cătălin Daniel Buşe was also sent to court.
According to the court portal, the file was registered at the Bucharest Court, and on Friday a magistrate will check the preventive measures in the case of the two.
In an official statement from December 16, DNA announced that “the prosecutors from the National Anti-Corruption Directorate – Section for Combating Corruption Crimes ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings and the detention for 24 hours (…) against the defendants BDC, an administrator of a commercial company and CRA, a natural person without special status, for committing the crime of bribery, respectively complicity in bribery”.
Prosecutors' accusations
The prosecutors claim that, during September of last year, the Autonomous Directorate of the Romanian Auto Registry launched a public procurement procedure in the amount of approximately 23 million lei, including VAT, which aims to ensure the maintenance of equipment for technical verification and diagnostics of vehicles.
Between September and November 2025, benefiting from the help of Răzvan Cuc, the businessman Cătălin Daniel Buşe would have promised the general director of RAR, Mihai Alecu (whistleblower in the file), as a bribe, a percentage of 6% of the total value of the framework agreement, which was to be renewed between RAR and Euro Quip International SRL, whose administrator is Buşe.
“The two defendants would have promised the respective amount during several meetings or conversations with the general director of RAR, so that he would carry out the necessary steps for the preferential appointment of the members of the evaluation committee of the offers submitted by the participants in the public procurement procedure, as well as for the signing of the respective contract with the company managed by the defendant BDC, in the shortest possible time. The defendant BDC would have promised to the general director of RAR that the respective amount of money will be remitted to him, in installments, at time intervals of approximately 3-5 months”, it was also said in the communique of the anti-corruption prosecutors.
