An adviser to Bolojan compares the PSD attacks to “ground-to-ground missiles”. “In 2028 we will all be history if we do not understand the risk of the isolationist current”

The adviser to the prime minister, Vlad Gheorghe, declared on Europa FM that the PSD is in power in the morning, and in the evening, in prime time, it is in the opposition, comparing the social democrats' attacks on the prime minister with “ground-to-ground missiles” that increase Romania's financing costs. The former MEP said that, after the 2028 elections, pro-European politicians will be history if they do not understand the risk of the growth of the “isolationist” current in Romania.
“Every time there are these ground-to-ground missiles in the governing coalition, Romania's loan costs increase. So, all these political missiles cost us in our pocket. We don't have time and we don't have space either economically or politically for such behaviors, so I would like there to be fewer missiles and more work”, said Vlad Gheorghe, quoted by News.ro.
“If we were all this good, GOLD wouldn't have 46%”
He also commented on the presidential performance, showing that there is always room for improvement.
“I think there's always room for improvement, and I think, again, that as far as the team is concerned, things can definitely be improved, but that's about me too. I'm sure there are always better people than me who can do what I do better, but maybe not all the conditions have been met. So yes, it can be worked on, but that's also true for the team now and at Victoria Palace. In general, if we were all this good, AUR wouldn't have 46%. So I say that we all have to work on what we do and I think we all disappoint, to one degree or another,” he said.
When asked if Ilie Bolojan has the capacity to remain in office until the rotation of premiers between PNL and PSD, Vlad Gheorghe answered in the affirmative, even if things are delayed compared to the previously fixed schedule.
“I think they counted his days from last summer, if I'm not mistaken, and at one point it was the day and the motion and the departure. Even yesterday they tried to tell the sources, if I'm not mistaken, that he was resigning. So, I'm sure that Mr. Bolojan has gotten used to it, especially since we've already gotten used to these fake news,” said Gheorghe.
Asked if in 2028, Ilie Bolojan will make history or be history, Vlad Gheorghe answered: “In 2028 we will all be history, if we do not understand that this isolationist current, falsely calling itself sovereignist, is growing with our eyes. It exceeded 40%, unfortunately it remains above 40%. If all of us, the politicians in this pro-European area, do not understand this, we will all be history not only Mr. Bolojan”.
Who is Vlad Gheorghe?
Prime Minister Bolojan appointed a former MEP from outside the PNL as an honorary advisor
On January 30, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan signed a Prime Minister's decision appointing former MEP Vlad Gheorghe as an honorary advisor.
“Starting on February 2, 2026, Mr. Vlad Dan Gheorghe is granted the title of honorary advisor to the Prime Minister. The activity of Mr. Vlad Dan Gheorghe is unpaid,” says the decision signed by Bolojan and published in the Official Gazette.
Vlad Gheorghe was a member of the European Parliament in the period 2020-2024 from the USR, obtaining the mandate following the resignation from the European Parliament of Clotilde Armand who became mayor of Sector 1 in 2020.
In February 2024, he resigned from USR accusing the party leadership of turning the formation “into a smaller PSD”. In the June 2024 European Parliament elections, he ran as an independent for a new term in Brussels, but without success.
Vlad Gheorghe announced his candidacy for the partial elections of December 7, 2025, for the post of general mayor of the Capital. Five days before the election, he announced his withdrawal from the race and his support for the PNL candidate, Ciprian Ciucu. Gheorghe then invoked the risk that the mayor's office would be won by Anca Alexandrescu, supported by AUR.
“We all see that the extremist candidate with connections and history in the PSD has a chance to reach the Capital City Hall. The responsible thing to do is to support Mr. Ciprian Ciucu, so that Bucharest remains a bastion of democracy and does not end up in the hands of PSD extremists,” Vlad Gheorghe said then.
