If you dream of juicy, flavorful cucumbers without daily watering, weeding and fighting powdery mildew, pay attention to these proven varieties. They bear fruit well even in a shaded garden bed, do not require frequent hilling and delight with crispy fruits from June to September.
1. Shchedrik
The first green plants appear 42–45 days after germination. The bush is compact, does not need pollination, and produces bunches of 4–6 cucumbers. From one plant you can easily collect 8–9 kg of finely tuberculated, sweet fruits without bitterness. Ideal for salads and lightly salted snacks.
2. Herman F1
This variety is resistant to all major diseases, including powdery mildew and olive spot. The fruits are cylindrical, 10–12 cm long, with thick skin and crispy pulp. They tie evenly, do not outgrow and are great for preservation. Productivity is up to 7–8 kg per bush with minimal care.
3. Lilliput
Early ripening, it produces mini-cucumbers 7–9 cm long, which just beg to be put in a jar. They are also wonderful fresh: crispy, aromatic, with thin skin. Fruits in waves until frost. From one bush you will get up to 6 kg of gherkins, which do not turn yellow or overgrow.
These varieties do not require cultivation, rarely get sick and grow well even in partial shade. Just plant them, water them every 2-3 days and harvest while your neighbors are fighting the barren flowers and you are already pickling the third batch.
