Germany will ban the entry of Russians with old passports

6 November 15:28

Germany will prohibit Russian citizens with non-biometric (old-style) foreign passports from entering the country. A message about this appeared on the website of the German Embassy in Russia.

The ban will take effect on January 1, 2026. For holders of biometric passports (new sample), entry rules will not change.

Germany will become the eighth European country to ban non-biometric passports from entering its territory. Previously, similar bans were introduced by Denmark, the Czech Republic, France, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Iceland, which is not a member of the EU but is part of the Schengen zone.
