“The only possible solution.” Heating is drained in Kharkov after shelling

A 27-year-old and a 58-year-old man needed the help of doctors.

The occupiers attacked the energy sector in Kharkov, city mayor Igor Terekhov indicated on Telegram. This deprived almost a thousand residential buildings of heating.

“We already understand that we will have to make difficult decisions. One of them is forced, but the only possible one. In order to prevent the network from freezing, we need to drain the coolant in the heating system of 820 houses, which are powered by one of the largest thermal power plants,” the mayor wrote, noting that “experts see no other way out.”

Terekhov warned that interruptions in the operation of city electric transport are possible. They promise to open about a hundred heating points in the city.

Forecasters from the regional hydrometeorological center predict frost of -14…-16 °C in the Kharkov region on February 3.
