Pay raises in the army. A private will earn PLN 6,500, a general will earn over PLN 22,000

This year, the basic salary of professional soldiers will increase by approximately 3%. – provides for a draft regulation presented by the Ministry of Defense. The lowest soldier's salary is to increase from PLN 6,300 to PLN 6,500.

A draft regulation of the Minister of National Defense regulating the remuneration of professional soldiers and their raises has been published on the website of the Government Legislation Center. The ministry prepares a similar document every year; last year – due to the promise of budget increases made by the new government – raises for soldiers ranged from approximately 5 to approximately 7 percent.

This year, soldiers' salaries are to increase by approximately 3%. The exact rates depend on the rank; the minimum basic salary for a private is to be PLN 6,500 – this is an increase of PLN 200 compared to last year.

From private to general – specific amounts

All soldiers from the private corps (private, senior enlisted and senior enlisted specialists) will receive a pay raise of between PLN 200 and 210. Pay raises for non-commissioned officers (the ranks of corporal, senior corporal, platoon leader, sergeant, senior sergeant, junior warrant officer, warrant officer, senior warrant officer and senior staff warrant officer) will amount to between PLN 220 and 250.

Junior officers (second lieutenants, lieutenants and captains) will receive between PLN 270 and 280 more. The pay raises for senior officers (majors, lieutenant colonels, colonels) and generals will range from PLN 290 to PLN 660. The major's basic salary will increase by PLN 290, and the so-called general's salary will increase by PLN 290. four-star hotel by PLN 660, to PLN 22,610.

Currently, there are two four-star generals in active service in the Polish Army – the Chief of the General Staff, General Wiesław Kukuła, and the Polish representative in the NATO and EU Military Committees, General Sławomir Wojciechowski.

The mechanism of raises and allowances for internship

As stated in the justification to the draft regulation of the Ministry of National Defense, salary increases will be related to, among others: with an increase in the allowances received by soldiers for long-term service. “Therefore, when determining the amount of individual amounts of basic emoluments, this increase was taken into account so that the total amount of the increase in basic emoluments and the allowance for long-term military service does not exceed the increase in the emoluments fund specified for 2026.” (PAP)
