Who was pardoned by Karol Nawrocki? “Fraud, harm to creditors, large-scale damage to business transactions

President Karol Nawrocki applied the law of pardon to three people. At the same time, the president did not apply this law to five people.
“By resolutions of February 2, 2026, the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, applied the right of pardon to three people. When making decisions, the President of the Republic of Poland was guided by humanitarian considerations, positive opinions of the courts, as well as the requests of the Prosecutor General to exercise the right of pardon,” said presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz.
How does the president explain his decisions? Here are the justifications published on the website of the Chancellery of the President.
Karol Nawrocki pardoned a person convicted of criminal threats
“When deciding to exercise the right of pardon, the President of the Republic of Poland took into account humanitarian considerations – the very difficult health situation and advanced age of the convicted person, the long date of committing the act and compliance with the legal order after the verdict,” we read in the justification regarding the person convicted of criminal threats (offence under Article 190 § 1 of the Penal Code).
Karol Nawrocki pardoned a person convicted of fraud and harming creditors
“When deciding to exercise the right of pardon, the President of the Republic of Poland took into account primarily humanitarian considerations – the difficult family situation due to the serious illness of the closest person and the need to take care of them and minors, the positive opinion of the community intelligence, the significant passage of time since the commission of the crimes, compliance with the legal order after the judgment is issued and the inability to use the protection measures provided for by the Executive Penal Code” – we read in another justification regarding the person convicted of fraud, causing large-scale damage to business transactions, harming creditors (offence under Article 286 § 1 of the Penal Code, Article 296 § 1 and 3 of the Penal Code and Article 301 § 1 of the Penal Code).
Karol Nawrocki pardoned a person convicted of causing a disaster in land traffic
“When deciding to exercise the right of pardon, the President of the Republic of Poland took into account primarily humanitarian considerations – the very difficult health situation of the convicted person, his advanced age, expression of remorse, apology to the injured parties, incidental nature of the act, positive opinion of the community,” we read in the third justification, regarding the person convicted of unintentionally causing a disaster in land traffic, if the consequence of the act is the death of a person or serious damage to the health of many people (crime: under Article 173 § 2 and § 4 of the Penal Code).
