BAC in Romanian: how to correctly solve the 3rd subject, which scares students the most. The recommendations of a teacher from “Sava” College

The essay from the Romanian language and literature written test of the Baccalaureate exam is the subject of the exam that scares the students the most. In reality, teachers say, the test has a clear and predictable structure, and with proper attention and guidance can be solved relatively easily by candidates.

If the student knows what is essential to mention in the introduction, body and conclusion, and if he avoids some common confusions, he can get a very good score.

Professor Cristina Văduva from the “Saint Sava” National College in Bucharest explains step by step how to approach the III subject in the 2026 Baccalaureate exam.

The third subject is the literary essay from the Romanian language and literature test (the Ea test, which is held on June 29, 2026) and is worth 30 points. Of these, 18 points are awarded for content and 12 points for writing. According to teacher Cristina Văduva, one of the biggest mistakes is approaching the essay as a free text, in which the student writes everything he knows about a work. In reality, the scale aims to follow clear benchmarks and a precise structure. “If the students follow the order in the requirement, they have every chance of getting the 18 points for the content,” says the teacher.

The first thing students need to understand is that Topic III doesn't just check if they've read the works in the syllabus. Examiners look at their ability to analyze, the logic of their argument and how information is organized into a coherent essay. For this reason, a good structure is worth almost as much as the literary information itself.
