I cook carrots in 6 minutes – no cooking in a pan: soft, sweet, ready for salad, soup or stew

Carrots are an indispensable vegetable for soups, stews, salads and even desserts. But cooking it is a whole ordeal: wait 20–25 minutes, make sure it doesn’t overcook, then cool and grate. And if you need it quickly, you waste precious time.

In fact, everything is much simpler. Carrots can be cooked in just 6 minutes in the microwave. It turns out soft, but not falling apart, sweet from natural sugars and completely ready for use.

Here's how to do it:

  • Wash and peel the carrots.
  • Cut into thin slices or strips 0.5 cm thick.
  • Place in a deep microwave-safe bowl.
  • Add 1-2 tablespoons of water.
  • Cover with a lid or cling film with a small hole for steam.
  • Microwave on high for 6 minutes.
  • If the pieces are large, add another 1 minute.

Finished carrots can be easily pierced with a toothpick and retain their bright color and sweetness. It can be added directly to soup, mixed with stewed cabbage, used in carrot cutlets, or served as a side dish with butter.
